Sarangani SMED Center sets up library

ALABEL, Sarangani (March 9, 2007) – The small and medium enterprise development (SMED) center here is setting up a library for relevant, up-to-date information and references of entrepreneurs.

Engr. Nenita Barroso, provincial director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), said her agency has started establishing the library.

"We would like to make the library a repository of sources of SME development services and information for SMEs to easily and readily access," said Barroso.

The library is located at DTI Sarangani office inside the Capitol complex.

"The putting up of the library is in line with DTI's commitment to the local SME development plan of the province," Barroso added.

She noted that the plan, among others, calls for the establishment of an information center for SMEs to access.

The agency hired a professional librarian to inventory, record, index and catalogue reading materials.

The library is expected to be operational by mid-March.

The designated SME counselor of the local DTI will man and take charge of the library.

The library in-charge will get additional info-materials to be able to provide wide array of references to target clients and users. "Aside from businessmen, existing and would-be SMEs, the SMED center library looks forward to serve students and researchers as well," Barroso disclosed. (SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE/DTI)
