Mangrove lobster

MAITUM, Sarangani (February 1, 2008) - Marina Braganaza, 81, peddles at P25 per three pieces these mangrove lobsters, also known as mud lobsters (Thalassina anomala), an Ilocano delicacy whose mass of eggs are their most prized part. Ilocanos call the lobster ballasoy. Thalassina anomala's nocturnal burrowing is important for the recycling of nutrients in the mangrove ecosystem. (Photo by SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE/CAS)
