Sarangani Golden Mango

MALUNGON, Sarangani (July 20, 2007) – Local mango growers and the municipal government of Malungon are all set to launch "Sarangani Golden Mango" brand for the export market. Malungon eyes the vast Middle East market following the success of a sample shipment of 1,000 kilograms to Bahrain recently. Likewise, Australia is another possible market. Malungon is the biggest mango producing town in the SOCCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos) Region with 5,000 hectares of fully bearing trees. The town aims to triple the areas planted to 15,000 hectares by 2010. Mango is the One Town One Product (OTOP) of Malungon at the same time, the provincial OTOP of Sarangani.
