ALABEL, Sarangani (August 29, 2009) – A local dress is used to scareaway birds from a field of upland rice at Kiangkos village. Under the Indigenous People’s Development Program of Governor Migs Dominguez, a special project in preserving the culture and tradition of indigenous people in Sarangani includes the planting of traditional rice varieties which not only give a high yield, but are also disease resistant, glutinous, and very tasty.
