Tuna at Gensan City Fish Port

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 2, 2006) – Crews unload tuna at General Santos City fish port. The tuna handline fishing industry in the areas of Sarangani, General Santos City and Sultan Kudarat employs approximately 30,000 fishermen-crews. They fish in the Philippine and Indonesian waters for large yellow fin and big eye tuna. They supply fresh and frozen sashimi and generate about US$ 70 million annually.
